PSC Approves Entergy request, Citizens baffled.

The Advocate 11/09/07 - Over loud opposition Thursday, state regulators approved building a $1.55 billion electricity-making plant that would increase air pollution but could mean cheaper power bills decades from now.

Environmentalists and some of Entergy Corp.’s largest industrial customers joined forces in questioning whether the proposed power generator would be cost effective.

Say YES to Clean Energy and NO to Coal and Nuclear!

We are at an energy crossroads in Louisiana. The Louisiana Public Service Commission, a five-member elected body that regulates utility companies in Louisiana, is being approached by companies that want to build more coal and nuclear plants in our state. If these permits are granted, these plants will mean more polluting coal and expensive and dangerous nuclear power. It’s time we carefully examine our options and decide what kind of legacy we want to leave to future generations. We could greatly reduce demand for electricity by using energy more efficiently in our homes and businesses (also reducing energy costs), and clean, renewable resources such as wind and solar power could satisfy any new power needs. Policies to encourage clean energy are needed.

Please let your Public Service Commissioners know that clean energy solutions exist and “Say YES to clean energy and NO to coal and nuclear!”

Thanks for your help!
